IOP Publishing

Asendia produces carrier sheets for IOP Publishing, a publisher of global journals and magazines. We also provide a pollywrapping service and the occasional direct mail and digital printing, aiming to raise IOP’s marketing communications by keeping costs low.

About IOP Publishing

IOP Publishing is owned by the Institute of Physics and publishes a range of journals and magazines to a global audience of researchers and research organisations.

IOP Case Study

The Challenge

Since 1996 IOP Publishing needed a mailing house to fulfil their monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly magazines to recipients around the world- which accumulates to roughly 1.75m magazines annually, with circulations varying from 5,000 to 40,000 – and deal with UK and international sortation and postal services. IOP also requires production and mailing of ad hoc direct mail campaigns and occasional digital printing.

The Solution

In order to fulfil the magazine mailings, Asendia produces carrier sheets promoting other publications from IOP Publishing, polywraps the magazines, add inserts and supply mail services for Physics World (x12 pa), CERN Courier (x10 pa) and ESRF (quarterly). As many of the magazines are mailed overseas, Asendia prints carrier sheets and adds postage using multiple postal indicia’s.

Mail sorting and consolidation create discounts on postage for IOP, and Asendia’s Account Managers work closely with them to find new ways of maximising their marketing communications and reduce costs further.
